got hold of paula deen’s butter balls recipe. anyway, why does she require use of an ice cream scooper or melon baller when this is more practical (for someone who doesn’t have those tools)?

I made chocolate crinkles not long time ago and it called for me to use a cookie scooper… like a miniature ice scream scoop. I wondered too, but after mixing the batter, I saw why… it was thick and sticky!!!! The cookie scoop helped me make dough balls with ease — and no sticky fingers! =)
